Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular treatment and can replace the definition and volume that the ageing process has taken away. The ingredient in dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occurring substance in our body. As we age we produce less of this substance, which is why our lips get thinner and our cheeks  lose definition as we get older.

Dr Helen is able to discuss your requirements with you and treat you safely and comfortably to achieve the effect you desire.  As much or as little filler as you like can be injected to give a subtle or more dramatic result.

Some of the currently available treatments include:

  • Lip fillers - these can be used to redress the balance between the upper and lower lip, or any asymmetry that may be present.

  • Cheek fillers - these augment the cheeks to reverse the signs of ageing and replace definition and volume, this can have a very effective lift on the rest of the face, reducing the appearance of other wrinkles.

  • Tear trough - these are designed to reduce the appearance of hollowing and dark circles/bags under the eyes.

  • Marionette lines/down-turned smile - filler applied either side of the lower corners of the mouth which smooth and raise deep lines which can give the appearance of a down-turned smile when the face is at rest.

An anaesthetic cream will be used for the procedure which will make it as comfortable as possible. The treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes, and the results will be instant. There can be some mild swelling or redness following the procedure but it should subside shortly after.
